Vintage Finds

Vintage brights have really got a hold on me. I can't seem to get enough of the fun colors from the 1960's and 70's. We may be going into the Winter season, but there is no reason not to lighten up your wardrobe with some fun color. You can find great vintage pieces like this at stores like the Orange County Antique Mall (Orange, CA), Enid and Edgar Vintage (Echo Park, CA), American Vintage (Los Angles, CA).

Christmas Sweaters

Thanksgiving is this thursday and for anyone who lives under a rock, the Christmas season starts immediately after on Black Friday. To get you in the holiday season I have collected a group of Christmas Sweaters. Some ugly, some not so ugly. Wether you prefer to go all out in a light up sweater or you are looking for something that you can maybe wear again, Christmas sweaters are always something fun to wear to a party with friends.

In my family we have a night where we make gingerbread houses and arrive wearing our best ugly Christmas sweaters. Last year I made three, all of which were individual masterpieces. I wore one that was green and had sad half eaten gingerbread men on it. My sister wore one with a giant Christmas tree which featured three dimensional ornaments. And last but not least I mage my boyfriend a Star Wars themed sweater with Darth Vader in the middle wearing a santa hat.

Many lines are now including their own version of ugly Christmas sweaters for the season. If you are looking for a sweater that is themed but not tacky try the following brands:
Marc by Marc Jacobs
Patterson J Kincaid
Bloomingdales Cashmere
Free People
Elizabeth and James

It's Party Time

The holiday season is quickly approaching and it is time for all of us to go out an pick the perfect dresses for the office parties, family get togethers, and other seasonal social events. The big trends in cocktail dresses this year are sparkles and bold prints. Both can be difficult to pull off, so you need to be careful when selecting a dress.

Try to find a dress that is still a flattering fit for your body type and a good color for your skin tone. There is nothing worse than walking around like an ugly disco ball while dresses in sequins or looking like a fat lady in an oversized printed moo-moo. Make sure that you choose a dress that you feel comfortable in because you will be wearing it to look your best. You want to feel at ease in the dress so you are not fidgeting and fussing the entire night. If sequins and bold prints are too much for you to handle you can incorporate it into your holiday look by wearing a dress that has sequins accents or a more monochromatic print.

The best brands for sparkle: Alice + Olivia, DVF, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Nanette Lepore, Elizabeth and James, and French Connection

The best brands for bold prints: Trina Turk, Tory Burch, DVF, Theory, Halston Heritage, and Tibi
